John Brown's Raid at Harpers Ferry, West Virginia--1859. Temporarily out-of-print.

by Alexander R. Boteler, John E. P. Daingerfield, and F. B. Sanborn.

Here are three accounts of Brown's daring and patriotic (in his mind) but foolhardy attempt to rally the nation against slavery. Alexander R. Boteler was a West Virginia congressman who witnessed the fight. John E. P. Daingerfield was a prisoner who witnessed the fight at the engine house where the rebels holed up. F. B. Sanborn was a radical abolitionist. Sentenced to be hung for murder, treason, destruction of property, insurrection, and inciting slaves to rebel, Brown regretfully predicted that the only remaining solution to the problems of slavery in a "free society" was civil war. Foreword is by Neal F. Randell, National Park Service Park Interpreter at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park.

Engravings of period scenes and of John Brown's men. 32 pages.

ISBN-10: 0-89646-055-X. ISBN-13: 978-0-89646-055-3.  Temporarily out-of-print but could be reprinted with an expressed interest. Order #: VIST0055 paper$4.95
